My iPod displays a sad iPod icon.

The sad iPod icon indicates a hardware problem. If you are able to force iPod into disk mode, then you should try to restore your iPod with the latest software. If you cannot set iPod into disk mode and restore it, then your iPod is in need of service.

iPod is displaying battery with exclamation point.

This happens when the battery needs to be recharged. Connect iPod to the power adapter to charge it. You can also charge it by connecting to your computer.

iPod displays a folder icon with an exclamation point.

Check the following:

  1. iPod may be running on low battery.
  2. iPod may have locked (Reset it).
  3. Restore the iPod with the latest version of iPod updater application.
Only apple logo appears when iPod is turned on.

Check the following:

  1. Reset your iPod.
  2. Restore the iPod.
  3. If the reset was not successful, disconnect and connect iPod and try the reset again.
  4. If the reset was not successful, iPod may need to be repaired.
Viewing the message “Do not disconnect” still want to disconnect the iPod.

Check the following:

  1. iPod may be downloading the music. Wait for the download to complete.
  2. Select iPod in the iTunes and click the eject button
    (If iPod is not displaying on the iTunes but you still see above message on the iPod screen. Disconnect it.)

The iPod is not turning or responding.

Check the following:

  1. Make sure the hold switch is off
  2. Battery might be uncharged so charge it
  3. iPod need to be reset
  4. Restore the iPod software

iPod is not playing the music.

Check the following:

  1. Hold switch should be off.
  2. Volume should be adjusted properly.
  3. iPod might be paused.
  4. Make sure you upgrade your iTunes with the latest version.

Trying to connect iPod to the computer but nothing is showing.

Check the following:

  1. Make sure that iTunes Software is installed on your computer.
  2. iPod need to be reset.
  3. USB 2.0 port is recommended to connect iPod.

Unable to download song or other data to iPod.

The songs format is not supported by the iPod.

iPod support the following audio file format:

  1. MP3
  2. WAV
  3. AA
  4. AIFF
  5. Apple Lossless
  6. AAC
    If the songs in itunes in not supported by iPod you can use converter to convert it to the format that iPod support.
